Transporter System in Kenya
SEW Surface Coating Pvt. Ltd. designs, manufactures and installs PLC-controlled transporter systems for manufacturers in Kenya. Every plant is built at our own works in Pune, India, then export-packed and shipped to Kenya, with erection and commissioning support from our engineers.
A transporter is the main production equipment of a dip tank line. It loads and unloads jobs into the tanks on a programmed cycle, based on the time required in each tank, and sequences the critical tanks so jobs are removed from them with minimal delay.
- PLC Controlled
- Manual / Semi-Auto / Automatic
- Programmed Tank Cycle

Transporter Systems for Kenya's Industry
Kenya is East Africa's leading manufacturing economy. Nairobi's Industrial Area, Athi River EPZ, Thika, Ruiru and Mombasa host steel, roofing, furniture, electrical, automotive assembly and agricultural equipment makers.
In Kenya, demand for transporter systems comes mainly from steel structure fabricators, furniture and storage makers and agricultural equipment makers. In dip pretreatment, leaving a job too long in degrease, de-rust, zinc phosphate or the water drying oven damages it. A PLC transporter gives those critical tanks priority, holds each tank time accurately and keeps the line at its planned production rate.
Local fabricators increasingly coat in-house instead of importing finished products, which is driving demand for coating and pretreatment plants.
Transporter System Modes We Supply in Kenya
Manual / Semi-Automatic / Automatic
The transporter lifts the basket or jig, travels over the tanks and dips it as per the process. It can be operated manually, semi-automatically or fully automatically.
- Programmed cycle based on tank timings
- Priority sequencing for critical tanks
- PLC control for the target production rate
Applications
Used on dip pretreatment plants, CED coating lines and other multi-tank chemical processes where jobs move between tanks on a timed cycle.
- Dip pretreatment plants
- CED coating plants
- In-line water drying ovens
How the Transporter Cycle Works
The PLC runs the cycle below and repeats it for every job:
- LoadJob is loaded in a basket or jig at the loading station.
- Lift & TravelTransporter lifts the job and travels to the next tank.
- DipJob is lowered into the tank for the set time.
- Priority PickupJobs in critical tanks are picked first to avoid damage.
- DryingJob is placed in the in-line water drying oven.
- UnloadFinished job returns to the unloading station.
Critical tanks such as degrease, de-rust, zinc phosphate and the WDO are treated on priority, so jobs are removed from them with minimal time loss.
Equipment Supplied With the Transporter System
Pretreatment Plant
Dip or spray pretreatment cleans and phosphates the metal surface so the coating adheres well and resists corrosion.
Water Drying Oven
Dries parts completely after the final rinse, since moisture left on the surface spoils the finish.
Oil Skimmer
Continuously removes floating oil from the degreasing tank, so the chemical lasts longer and parts come out cleaner.
Sludge Separator
Separates phosphate sludge from the bath to keep the process stable and cut tank-cleaning downtime.

Transporter System in Kenya – Frequently Asked Questions
Do you export transporter systems to Kenya?
Yes. SEW Surface Coating Pvt. Ltd. manufactures transporter systems at its factory in Pune, India, and exports them to customers in Kenya, with erection and commissioning support from our engineers.
What does a transporter system do?
It loads and unloads jobs into the various tanks of a chemical process on a programmed cycle, based on the time required in each tank.
Why is priority sequencing important?
Leaving a job too long in critical tanks such as degrease, de-rust, zinc phosphate or the water drying oven can damage it. The transporter picks jobs from these tanks first so they are removed with minimal time loss.
Can the transporter be added to an existing dip plant?
Yes, subject to the tank layout and building structure. We study your existing pretreatment plant and propose a suitable transporter.
Is a manual mode available?
Yes. Transporters can run in manual, semi-automatic or automatic mode.
How is the plant shipped to Kenya?
The plant is fabricated at our Pune works, export-packed and shipped from Nhava Sheva (JNPT) port near Mumbai to Mombasa. Our engineers can travel to supervise erection and commissioning.
How do I get a quotation for a transporter system in Kenya?
Send your tank layout, number of tanks, job weight and target cycle time through our enquiry page, or call +91-99758 35066. Our engineers will prepare a layout and technical offer.
