Pretreatment Plant in Nepal

SEW Surface Coating Pvt. Ltd. designs, manufactures and installs dip and spray pretreatment plants for manufacturers in Nepal. Every plant is built at our own works in Pune, India, then export-packed and shipped to Nepal, with erection and commissioning support from our engineers.

A pretreatment plant cleans and chemically prepares metal surfaces before powder coating, liquid painting or CED coating. We supply complete lines with process tanks, water drying ovens, transporter systems and bath-maintenance accessories, so one company is responsible for the whole job.

Pretreatment Plants for Nepal's Industry

Nepal's industry is concentrated in the Birgunj–Parsa–Bara corridor, Biratnagar, Hetauda, Bhairahawa, Butwal and the Kathmandu valley. Steel, roofing, furniture, electrical and agro-processing equipment makers are growing.

In Nepal, demand for pretreatment plants comes mainly from steel structure fabricators, furniture and storage makers and electrical and panel makers. Coating failures such as peeling, blistering and early rust almost always trace back to poor surface preparation. A pretreatment plant removes oil, grease, rust and scale, then applies a conversion coating, typically a phosphate layer, that gives the powder or paint something to grip. The result is better adhesion, longer corrosion life and fewer rejected parts.

Hydropower and infrastructure projects add demand for coated steel structures and electrical equipment.

Our range

Types of Pretreatment Plants We Supply in Nepal

Dip pretreatment plant with process tanks for Nepal

Dip Pretreatment Plant

Components are loaded in a basket or jig and dipped through a series of chemical and rinse tanks in sequence. Because every surface is immersed, the chemicals reach inside hollow sections and recesses.

  • Articles are loaded in a basket or jig
  • The basket or jig is lifted and dipped in each tank as per the required chemical process
  • Lifting and dipping by hoist (manual) or transporter system (manual, semi-automatic or automatic)

Best for: Batch production, mixed component sizes, heavy fabrications and parts with hollow sections.

Conveyorised spray pretreatment tunnel for Nepal

Spray Pretreatment Plant

A conveyor carries components through an enclosed tunnel where each zone sprays a different chemical or rinse. It runs continuously and links directly to the drying oven and coating booth.

  • The conveyor carries the article inside the tunnel
  • The tunnel has separate zones as per the required chemical process
  • Spray density and pressure are controlled with pumps and valves
  • Tanks with filters below each zone give better circulation

Best for: High-volume conveyorised lines feeding a powder coating or paint shop, such as auto and appliance parts.

Process

Typical Pretreatment Process Sequence

A standard zinc phosphate line follows the sequence below. Stages are added or removed depending on the base metal, the condition of incoming parts and the coating specification.

  1. DegreasingRemoves oil, grease and machining fluids.
  2. Water RinseWashes off degreaser carry-over.
  3. De-rustingRemoves rust and mill scale from steel.
  4. Water RinseCleans the surface after de-rusting.
  5. Surface ActivationPrepares the surface for a fine, even phosphate layer.
  6. PhosphatingBuilds the zinc or iron phosphate conversion coating.
  7. Water RinseRemoves excess phosphate salts.
  8. PassivationSeals the phosphate layer for added corrosion resistance.
  9. DM Water RinseFinal rinse in demineralised water to avoid salt deposits.
  10. Water Drying OvenDries components before powder coating or painting.

For aluminium and galvanised components we design the chemical sequence to suit. Our spray lines can also run nano-technology pretreatment chemistry, which works at lower bath temperatures and produces less sludge than conventional phosphating.

Complete line

Equipment Supplied With the Pretreatment Plant

Water drying oven after pretreatment

Water Drying Oven

Dries parts completely after the final rinse, since moisture left on the surface spoils the finish.

PLC controlled transporter system over dip tanks

Transporter System

PLC-controlled transporter that moves jobs through the tanks on a programmed cycle, giving priority to critical tanks.

Oil skimmer for degreasing tank

Oil Skimmer

Continuously removes floating oil from the degreasing tank, so the chemical lasts longer and parts come out cleaner.

Sludge separator for phosphating tank

Sludge Separator

Separates phosphate sludge from the bath to keep the process stable and cut tank-cleaning downtime.

Air agitator for pretreatment tank

Air Agitator

Keeps the bath moving for even temperature and chemical concentration around every component.

FAQ

Pretreatment Plant in Nepal – Frequently Asked Questions

Do you export pretreatment plants to Nepal?

Yes. SEW Surface Coating Pvt. Ltd. manufactures pretreatment plants at its factory in Pune, India, and exports them to customers in Nepal, with erection and commissioning support from our engineers.

What is the difference between dip and spray pretreatment?

In a dip plant, components in a basket or jig are immersed in each tank, which suits batch work, heavy parts and hollow sections. In a spray plant, a conveyor carries parts through a tunnel where each zone sprays chemical under controlled pressure, which suits continuous high-volume production.

How many stages does a pretreatment plant need?

Most zinc phosphate lines use 7 to 10 stages: degreasing, rinses, de-rusting, surface activation, phosphating, passivation and a DM water rinse, followed by a water drying oven. We finalise the number after studying your components, base metal and coating specification.

Can you supply the complete line with drying oven and powder coating booth?

Yes. We supply complete lines including pretreatment, water drying oven, powder coating booth or liquid painting booth, curing oven and conveyor or transporter, so one company is responsible for the whole plant.

Do you offer automatic pretreatment plants?

Yes. Dip plants can be supplied with a PLC-controlled transporter system in semi-automatic or automatic mode, and spray plants run on a continuous conveyor.

How is the plant delivered to Nepal?

The plant is fabricated at our Pune works and dispatched by road via the Raxaul–Birgunj border crossing to your site. Our engineers can supervise erection and commissioning.
